Provincetown

Slat fence along Herring Run Beach outside Provincetown, MA.

What a difference from the California Beaches we are used to. The water is clear, the sand is cleaner, and the areas are surrounded by all types of flora.

Oops! Last day of our trip entry is kind of late. My only excuse is that we came back to the hotel from a wonderful anniversary dinner and had to pack and get ready to wake up early for our drive back to Boston Airport. (I’m sitting in the airport writing this.)

We got up a bit late, we had a nice sleep in morning, and drove off to Provincetown. The drive wasn’t to bad and we saw some interesting buildings and areas on our way. Once we arrived in “P-Town,” as the locals call it, we parked the car and walked around the town to shop, eat, and sightsee. We saw lots of quaint shops. We ate lunch at a place called Mayflower and it was great. The service was very good and the simple fare was fantastic. (Try the Linguica!) We both bought ourselves a present at the “Mad as a Hatter” store. The town was very picturesque, a term I am sure is used too liberally for all of New England.

After walking off our lunches and enjoying a local beach we drove back to our hotel to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, the town of Wellfleet was having an oyster festival and the end of the festival clogged the highway for MILES. As a result, what should have taken us 35-45 minutes to get back to the hotel ended up taking at least an hour and 45 minutes.

We finally arrived back at our hotel and got ready for dinner. It probably wasn’t necessary, but we decided to dress up a little. A whole vacation in jeans and t-shirts had spoiled us a bit. We had dinner at the Brewster Fish House. After perusing the menu, we decided that everything looked a bit “froo froo,” to quote my wife. But we stuck it out and were not disappointed. The food was fantastic. In fact, it was probably some of the best seafood we had on our trip.

So now we are back at the airport and on our way home.

More blog entries will follow, but probably not as frequently.

Hope you enjoyed!
