Acadia National Forest

Leaves Change in the Acadia national park.

This forested area was beautiful. We drove the loop road through the park and enjoyed beautiful views, fall colors, and crisp cool air.

Today we drove through the Acadia National Park. The park was amazing. I could have spent days wandering around. We enjoyed the trees that had changed colors. We saw much of the rocky coastline of Maine. We saw Sand Beach, one of the few sandy beaches in Maine. The “sand” is actually mostly broken shell fragments, which made it interesting to see and feel.

Then we went to Thunder Hole. The tide was low, so there wasn’t much thunder, but the rocky coastline there was amazing. (Pictures to follow when we are home)

After soaking in all the sights of the forest, we went into downtown Bar Harbor and had some lunch, then did a wee bit of shopping. The town is quaint and fun. There is a small harbor and a ferry that takes you to Newfoundland. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to do this.

Tomorrow we’re off to North Conway, New Hampshire, gateway to the White Mountains. It looks to be a mostly driving day but hopefully we’ll be surprised by something on the way.

More tomorrow!
